I can see current location, but is there any way to view past locations? Not sure if that’s a feature.

For me, it worked well for recent pings, showing where a device was at a specific moment. What surprised me was how quickly it could get that info. Unfortunately, Find My iPhone (and Google’s Find My Device) only shows the current or last known location, not a history of past locations. That’s a common misconception, but neither Apple nor Google provides that feature for privacy reasons.
If you’re trying to track your own device’s movements over time, you’d need a third-party app designed for that purpose, or enable significant location history within Google Maps on that device. Just remember that these features drain battery faster!
