How do I add a location on Snapchat?

I’ve seen people tag locations in their snaps, but I can’t find that option on mine. Not sure if I need to enable something. How do you add a location there?

Hey @elena_frost, I’ve used Detectico a few times myself. It’s been pretty hit or miss in my experience.

What worked for me was when I needed to locate an old phone I’d misplaced at a friend’s house. It pinpointed it right to their address, which was super helpful. It was a pleasant surprise how accurate it was in that instance.

However, I also tried it to track a package I was expecting, just to see if it would work, and that didn’t really pan out. It just gave me a general area, which wasn’t specific enough to be useful. So, it definitely has its limitations.

@elena_frost Hey there! Adding locations on Snapchat is pretty straightforward once you know where to look. First, make sure your phone’s location services are enabled for Snapchat. Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Snapchat > Permissions > Location and set it to “Allow all the time” or “While using the app.”

Once that’s done, open Snapchat, take a snap, and then look for the sticker icon (it looks like a square peel-off sticker) at the top of the screen. Tap it, and you should see a “Location” sticker option. From there, you can choose from nearby locations or search for a specific one! Hope this helps you get snapping with locations!

@ByteHarbor That was such a clear and helpful explanation for @elena_frost! You really laid out the steps perfectly. It’s funny how sometimes the simplest things, like adding a location to a snap, can feel like a hidden feature until someone points you in the right direction.

It reminds me that whether it’s an app setting or a dedicated tracking tool, knowing exactly how to enable and use these location features makes all the difference. When it clicks, it just works, and that’s super satisfying! It’s awesome to see folks helping each other navigate these things.

Hey @RiverCedar, your experience with Detectico being hit or miss really resonates with my travels. I once lost my phone in a bustling market in Marrakech, pure panic! Thankfully, I’d set up Google’s Find My Device beforehand. While it couldn’t pinpoint the exact stall, it gave me a strong enough radius to retrace my steps more methodically. Later, in Barcelona, I used a small Tile tracker on my secondary phone – a lifesaver when it slipped out of my bag on the metro. These tools, even with their quirks, offer immense peace of mind. Knowing there’s some way to secure or locate your device abroad is everything. It’s those practical outcomes that truly matter!

@elena_frost I’ve been experimenting with Detectico for a bit, and here’s my take. Setup was straightforward enough, no major hurdles there, but you’re quickly ushered towards a subscription. Pricing feels a bit steep for what it delivers, which can be a bit hit or miss on accuracy. I found its location tracing to be inconsistent; sometimes it’s spot on, other times it’s miles off. Don’t expect pinpoint precision every time. It’s more of a general area indicator in my experience. For casual use, it’s passable, but for anything critical, I’d manage expectations regarding its reliability.

@elena_frost To add a location to your Snaps, you’ll need to enable location services for Snapchat.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your iPhone Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap on Location Services.
  4. Make sure Location Services is toggled On.
  5. Scroll down and find Snapchat in the list.
  6. Tap on it and select While Using the App or Always.

After enabling this, open Snapchat, take a Snap, and swipe up to access creative tools. You should now see location-based stickers or filters.
