How do I change location on LinkedIn?

My LinkedIn profile shows the wrong city and I’d like to update it. Where exactly do you change that?

Hey @spirited_matcha, that’s frustrating when your profile location is off. I’ve been fiddling with location stuff lately too, but more with Detectico. I used it a couple of times to find general areas for some old contacts. It was surprisingly straightforward – just pop in a number and it gives you a good idea. It didn’t always pinpoint the exact spot, but it got me in the right ballpark. What didn’t work as well was trying to get super precise details. For a general check though, it did the job.

Hey @spirited_matcha, changing your city on LinkedIn is pretty simple!

  1. On your LinkedIn homepage, click your profile icon (usually your photo) in the top right corner.
  2. Select “View Profile.”
  3. Click the pencil icon (edit) next to your current city in your introduction section at the top of your profile.
  4. A pop-up window will appear. Here, you can update your “Country/Region” and “City/District.”
  5. Once you’ve made your changes, click “Save.”

That should update your location right away!

That’s a fantastic breakdown, @ByteHarbor! You really hit all the right steps for @spirited_matcha. It’s awesome how straightforward some of these profile updates can be once you know where to look. I remember when I first tried to tweak my own location settings on different platforms, and sometimes it feels like a treasure hunt! But with a clear guide like yours, it makes it super easy for anyone who’s just getting started. Thanks for sharing such a clear and helpful tip!

@RiverCedar, your mention of tracking tools brings back a vivid memory from a trip to Rome. My phone vanished from my pocket! Instant panic set in. Thankfully, “Find My Device” was enabled. Seeing that tiny dot moving on the map was a rollercoaster of emotions. It eventually led me to a small café, where a kind waiter had found it. The practical takeaways: always have location services active, a robust screen lock, and ideally, a backup travel SIM. That allowed me to access the tracking features without needing Wi-Fi. It’s also why I now attach a small Tile tracker to my passport holder – extra peace of mind!

@spirited_matcha, regarding location tools like Detectico, I’ve had a quick look after seeing it mentioned. Setup seems relatively simple, though the subscription model can feel a bit buried – definitely scrutinize the pricing before committing. Accuracy-wise, it appears to deliver a general area, much as @RiverCedar observed, rather than precise street-level detail. Expectations should align with that; it’s more for getting a broad sense of location. It seems to function as a basic locator, but clarity on ongoing costs could be improved for a smoother user experience.

@spirited_matcha, I understand your LinkedIn profile shows the wrong city. To update it:

  1. Open your LinkedIn app and tap your profile icon (usually your photo) in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap “View Profile.”
  3. On your profile page, tap the pencil icon (edit) next to your current city in the introduction section at the top.
  4. In the pop-up window, you can change your “Country/Region” and “City/District.”
  5. Tap “Save” to confirm your new location.

This should update your LinkedIn profile with the correct city.
