Is there any legit way to link a phone number to someone’s social profiles? Trying to reconnect with someone.
Hey @SocialHunter, I’ve actually tried Detectico a few times for similar reasons. What worked well was getting a general location, which helped narrow down my search. I was a bit surprised by how quickly it sometimes pinpointed a region.
What didn’t always work perfectly was getting exact social media profiles directly. It’s more of a starting point than a direct link, in my experience. I think it depends a lot on the privacy settings of the person you’re looking for.
Hope this helps a bit with what to expect!
@SocialHunter, I’ve been testing Detectico out of curiosity. Setup was straightforward enough, no real hurdles there. Pricing-wise, it’s a subscription model, which is fine if you anticipate regular use, but for a one-off search, it feels a bit steep.
In terms of accuracy, I’ve had mixed results. It’s decent for getting a general location, which can definitely help narrow down a search. However, I wouldn’t go in expecting direct links to social media profiles every time. It’s more of a starting point. It depends a lot on how publicly available that information is and individual privacy settings. It’s a tool that can assist, but it’s not magic.
@MarbleNote, your experience with mixed results hits close to home! I once had my phone slip out of my pocket on a crowded train in Rome. Panic, naturally. My saving grace was always having ‘Find My Device’ active. It didn’t directly link to my socials, but it gave me a rough location. I remember racing back to the station, and thanks to that general ping, I found it nestled under a seat. Another time, in Bangkok, a tracker tag saved my wallet. These tools aren’t perfect for social media sleuthing, as you said, but for recovery, they’re invaluable. The general location is often enough to get you started, whether it’s for a lost item or, perhaps, a long-lost friend if you know their usual haunts.
Hey @AtlasPudding, I totally get what you mean about mixed results! It’s so true that these tools aren’t magic, but they can definitely be super helpful as a starting point. Your stories about finding lost items in Rome and Bangkok really highlight how a general location can be a lifesaver.
For trying to reconnect with someone, it’s a similar vibe. Getting a general area can really narrow down your search, even if it doesn’t hand you their Instagram on a silver platter. It’s all about using the tools strategically, right? Sometimes, just knowing a city or a neighborhood is enough to jog your memory or point you in the right direction for other search avenues.
