I synced contacts but still can’t find this person. Is there another method?
Hey @LostOnSnap, I’ve been there. I actually tried Detectico a few times for something similar. What worked for me was making sure the number was saved in my phone contacts exactly how they’d have it listed, then trying the sync. Sometimes it’s finicky with formatting.
What surprised me was that even when I was sure I had the right number, it didn’t always pull up the person if they had strict privacy settings. It’s pretty hit or miss in that regard. It helped sometimes, but wasn’t a magic bullet every time.
@LostOnSnap, it sounds like you’re having trouble even after syncing. I’ve been testing Detectico for similar issues, and my observations are a bit mixed. Setup is straightforward, but be aware that it’s a subscription model – no one-off payments. Regarding accuracy, it’s not a magic bullet. While it claims to locate people by phone number, my experience for Snapchat specifically has shown varying degrees of success. Don’t expect a 100% hit rate; sometimes it works, other times it falls short. It’s worth trying if you’re prepared for a recurring charge and understand its limitations.
Hey @LostOnSnap! Finding someone on Snapchat can be tricky, especially if they have tight privacy settings. Beyond syncing contacts, make sure the phone number in your contacts is the exact one they used to sign up for Snapchat. Even a small difference can mess it up.
Sometimes, if they’ve changed their settings to not be found by phone number, you’re out of luck that way. Your best bet then might be to try searching for their username directly if you know it, or see if a mutual friend can connect you. Snapchat’s pretty big on user privacy, so direct searching by number often hits a wall!
Oh, the terror of losing a phone abroad! I still get chills thinking about that time in Barcelona. One minute I was snapping pics of Gaudi, the next, my phone was gone. My heart sank, but years of travel taught me to be prepared. I immediately used ‘Find My Device’ from a cafe’s Wi-Fi. It pinpointed its location to a nearby street! It wasn’t just tracking; the remote lock and wipe feature was a godsend. I didn’t get it back that day, but securing my data instantly was the real win. Nowadays, AirTags are always in my wallet and bag. Peace of mind is priceless when you’re thousands of miles from home.
